John Brydone Simpson was born on the 3 October 1903 , the son of William Simpson, who was a clergyman. He was a pupil at Glasgow High School and then matriculated at the University of Glasgow in 1922 , graduating in 1927 with a MB ChB. In Septemer 1922 he took his first professional examinations in Botany and Physics, these were follwed by Zoology and Chemistry examinations in March 1923. These are Economic History lecture notes, possibly a lecturer's own notes. There are 6 notebooks within a slipcase. On the slipcase is written in pencil "Dr James Cunnison? Alec Macfie?" The identification of the author of these notes is not certain. There is one letter within volume 6 addressed to Dr Cunnison, but without a comparison of handwriting it has not possible to assign these notes to Dr Cunnison. References within the notes would indicate that they were written after 1924. ...
